If you’ve been around me at all, you know I am a life-long Dallas Cowboys Fan!! (I know, I can feel the hater’s hating as you read this!!)
Well, last season rekindled a fire in the team and the fans, and gave us some hopes of a play-off, or maybe even a Super Bowl season!!
Here comes the but…
But early in the season, the team has been plagued with injuries, including taking out Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, the “backbone” of the team.
This resulted in placing under-practiced and under-developed second and third string players in starting positions and the results have been… let’s just say less than stellar.
Now, here lies the problem…. Football is a team sport, and it takes the whole team to win games and get to the Super Bowl!! It shouldn’t fall on one or two “key players”…If these other team players were prepared to step into the game, maybe our season could be a little better!! Now, here comes my point….
In the church, we have lots of people sitting on the sidelines, expecting a few “key players” to win the game…
When in fact, each and every Christian needs to be ready to step into the starting lineup at any moment!!
Romans chapter 12 and 1 Corinthians chapter 12 talks a lot about the church being one body made from many talented and gifted members….
That’s a team!!!
We are each a part of “Team Jesus”!!!
As we go through this long season, some may become injured, and you have to be ready to jump in and take their places without losing momentum and pressing on to victory!!!
You see in Team Jesus, there is no first, second, or third string…We are all starters, and we have to be prepared to fill our own unique position on the team…
If one suffers, we all suffer….If one rejoices, we all rejoice…
Not super stars, but a Super Team!!
So, if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines, expecting others to go out and get the victory…You better get up and start working out, start practicing…your day is coming…
Get ready to be in the starting lineup of Team Jesus!!
