I know a lot of you are video game fans and have mastered the latest most advanced games…
But I plateaued with Mario Kart 64!!!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Mario Kart 64 and will argue that it’s the greatest video game ever…
Probably because I was good at it!!
I didn’t start that way…I started out smoking the tires, running full speed only to wipe out in the corners…Then I started going from full throttle to full on brakes, only to realize you lose all momentum and have to start out slowly again…
But when I learned how to let off of the gas, power slide into the corners, tap the brakes, and then quickly get back on the accelerator, I started winning!!!
I don’t know about you, but I love winning!!!
Mario Kart 64 (I know there are newer versions, but it’s still the best!!) can teach us a lot about our spiritual lives…
Many times we get so excited about living our life for Christ that we run full throttle, and sometimes wipe out (face rejection, feel lack of support, don’t meet your personal expectations, mess up,…)
Other times we get excited about great things happening but as soon as we run into struggles or difficulties, we just completely stop moving forward…
Then you lost all momentum and it’s so hard to start over and get back up to speed!!
That’s why The Bible tells us that our Christian life should be like a good game of Mario Kart 64!! (Hebrews12:1-2 Run your race with endurance, keep your eyes on Jesus, and be ready for anything)!
Learn how to take the bumps and curves in life without losing your momentum (power-slide through the corners), learn how to slow down when needed, stay calm and keep your eyes on the finish line!! You are a winner!!!
One last thing…Watch out for the bananas!!!
