Sometimes, in church, you can be criticized for doing the right thing…
I’m going to explain what I mean…
I’m that person with the testimony of the world for most of my life, coming to know Christ at 39 years old…
I came into the church with many pre-conceived notions on what to expect…
• Judgment
• Rejection
• Wouldn’t fit in
And I guess, to be honest, if I found that to be true, I would still be that old person today.
Now understand…I was as “worldly” as the preachers preach about on Sunday morning!! (I really thought the roof would cave in when I came in the church…)
But something remarkable happened…
• Jesus gave this sinner a chance!!
I didn’t have to be perfect (I am a lifelong work in process…)
There were areas in my life where I still had sin…But Jesus gave me a chance anyway!!
That’s how I knew He really loved me…He accepted me as I was and made me what I am…
So, knowing that, you can see why I’m so willing to give people a chance…
• Yes I get called out for it…
• Yes I get reminded about the imperfect areas in some people’s lives…
But isn’t that what Jesus did? Gathered up a bunch of fishermen and made them disciples… Called the tax collector out of the tree and had lunch with him…went to the worst sinner’s house for a party looking for people to build His Church… Even realized one of His own had plotted against Him…yet still loved him…
He gave them all a chance…
Go ahead and criticize me…tell me I’m wrong…call me out…
I’m still going to do the right thing…I’m still going to give people a chance…
Because Jesus gave me a chance…
Love and Blessings
